Does Blue LED Light Technology Really Whiten Teeth?

Scientists have been investigating effects of BLUE LIGHT on the human body for decades and have found incredible amounts of energy with few known side effects.  So, science, medicine and holistic practices have begun to use blue light in a variety of ways. Studies have revealed blue wavelength light having a host of potential health benefits – including therapeutic remedies for acne, mood swings, rosacea, wrinkles and psoriasis.   Additionally, blue light has been proven to kill harmful, antibiotic-resistant bacteria and is often used to disinfect cuts, scrapes and burns.

Smiling Bright uses low frequency, blue LED, light-wave technology.  The light does not whiten teeth by itself; rather, the light activates our teeth whitening gel to boost the strength and brilliance of the whitening process.   This method is also known as laser whitening or power whitening or LED whitening. In this process, a specific concentration of teeth whitening gel is painted on the teeth and the blue light is aligned to shine directly on the gel.  This activates the bleaching gel and the teeth get whitened. Using an LED lighting system allows better absorption of the bleaching agent. This makes the process fast and effective.

LED teeth whitening is considered to be safe and effective.  The effectiveness depends on several factors such as the as the kind of gel used – carbamide vs. hydrogen peroxide, the gel’s concentration, how strong the discoloring on the teeth is and how the clients enamel responds to the gel.  At Smiling Bright we use only hydrogen peroxide in all our formulas because it is proven to be the most effective whitening agent available.

LED teeth whitening is really the easiest and most effective way to get rid of stains on your teeth quickly. LED teeth whitening also has the advantage of targeting even hidden debris between the teeth. To sum up, the following are the benefits you can get from LED teeth whitening:

  • Safe
  • Fast
  • Effective
